Current Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are currently needed to support new Americans from Afghanistan. With nearly 400 newly arrived Afghanis, there are plenty of ways to get involved! Contact us if you are interested in any of the following opportunities:
Become a Delivery Driver
Each week, MCA coordinates a donation delivery to families in need. Drivers are needed to load pre-packaged items of food, clothing, and other donated items into their vehicle, and drive to a specified address to bring the items to an individual or family.
Deliveries typically require a time investment about 1 1/2 to 2 hours per week. More if you'd like to visit with the family. (Drivers are almost always invited for tea!) Deliveries can be made on Saturday evening or Sunday mornings. You can volunteer for one weekend, or every weekend. Just contact us with your availability and we'll help you get started.
Greeter/Community Representative
One of the most significant needs for new Americans is to feel a sense of community. MCA coordinates weekly dinners for new Americans to meet our community. There are also opportunities to visit with new families independently. Community Representatives are asked to attend the dinner or visit a family and just... listen. That's it! Break bread with our new community members and listen to their stories.
This volunteer activity requires a time commitment of about 3 hours and can be performed at any time. Dinners are organized every Sunday evening, but individual visits can be done at any time. Please contact us to coordinate a visit or series of visits.
Become an Organizer
Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have a LOT of stuff to organize. There is a steady stream of clothing, kitchen supplies, food and other items delivered for distribution to families in need.
Organizers are needed on Saturdays, and the time commitment is flexible, but ideally you're available for at least two hours. Please contact us if you are available to help organize donations.
Event Volunteers
MCA organizes social activities for new American families and their children. Volunteers are needed to chaperone events, organize and lead kids activities, and more.
