Helping “The Girls”

Updated: Dec 25, 2021

Women’s interfaith groups helped collect more than 100 bras for new American women

from Afghanistan.

What about “The Girls?”

The Tucson Community has shown up for new Americans arriving from Afghanistan. Thousands of items were brought of at Ward 6, the Muslim Community Center of Tucson, the Islamic Center, Tucson, and private locations around the county. Food, toys, kitchen supplies, and gently used clothing items were all contributed. But what about “the girls?” We quickly realized that new women’s undergarments were direly needed.

An Interfaith Connection

Women’s committees at religious organizations across the community jumped to action. Members from the Saguaro Christian Church, Congregation Anshai Isreal, and the Muslim Convert Group of Tucson all pitched in. A large donation of new bras from Dillards helped top off the collection. In all, MCA is able to distribute more than 100 new bras to our friends from Afghanistan.

Thank you to everyone who supported MCA’s “Helping The Girls” campaign.
